How to set the time to lock the computer with Windows 10 after inactivity

Today, we'll tell you about how to set the time for locking the computer with Windows 10 after inactivity, as today this OS setting is very relevant for those of you who work a lot on the computer and are periodically distracted from Him on related matters.

This setting, which we want to tell you, is that provided that you have activated the option that when the computer does not work, displays the so-called screensaver - screen saver on the screen of the Desktop, after which the system is locked. It's clear that locking the system does not happen instantly, because if you press a key on the keyboard or move the mouse immediately after the splash screen appears, the lock screen will disappear, but if you delay more than 5 seconds, you will have to enter a user password. It is for this reason that we decided to offer you to increase the 5-second period of time to the one that will be most optimal for you.

As usual, open the "Registry Editor" with the command "regedit" -> then, go to this path: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE \ SOFTWARE \ Microsoft \ Windows NT \ CurrentVersion \ Winlogon.

Once in the "Winlogon" subsection, create a 32-bit parameter of type DWORD -> create the parameter "ScreenSaverGracePeriod".

Now, the parameter "ScreenSaverGracePeriod" should get from you a numeric value, which must be from 0 to 2147483 (the number is specified only in decimal notation).

Accordingly, the number you set will allow you to set the time for locking the computer with Windows 10 after inactivity. Here it is also necessary to understand that the pre-set time interval before the lock must be optimal, because it should not be too large and should not be too small!

Pay attention to the moment that those changes in the time that you will specify the parameter "ScreenSaverGracePeriod" will be distributed to all accounts without exception!

If necessary, discard your OS lock settings, we recommend simply deleting the "ScreenSaverGracePeriod" parameter.
